|KLONARIS/THOMADAKI: Cyber Retrospective|
A selection from the
A.S.T.A.R.T.I. Pour l’Art Audiovisuel is founded by Maria Klonaris and Katerina Thomadaki. As an artist-run non-profit organisation, it develops an international and interdisciplinary project dedicated to technological arts (film, video, photography, sound, computer art, performance, installation), and aims to overcome the frontiers between media art forms and to create a synthesis between practices, spaces and historical times.
Since it was created in 1985, A.S.T.A.R.T.I.
has organised many events, symposia and screenings in France and abroad,
presenting innovative works of hundreds of well-known artists and pioneers,
but also of young and pertinent practioners. A.S.T.A.R.T.I. cultivates
an awareness of all technologies and is especially interested in the socio-critical
expression of artists on their cultural environment and time. Crossing
practice and theory, A.S.T.A.R.T.I. proposes spaces for reflection and
discussion between artists and theoreticians (philosophers, art historians,
psychoanalysts, scientists) as part of events open to the general public.
